We are the Philatelic Society of Los Angeles (“us”, “we”, or “our”) operates the website (hereinafter referred to as the “Service”).

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

We are private Society and only collect personal information from our members. The Public may visit out website and look at our public pages, but we do not collect any personal information from visitors and they can not see any of the personal information collect from our members.

While using our website, your IP address may be logged, when you visit our website.  Your IP information allows us to understand how you use our site and to enable us to make changes to our site to improve your experience.  Information regarding your computer, your connection to our website and your user history (including, but not limited to, you session information, page errors and the length of your visits to specific pages within our website may also be collected.

If you wish to become a member, you will be asked for the following Personal Information:

        • Membership in other stamp clubs or society
        • Information about whether or not you have been expelled or denied admission to any philatelic organization

The information stored online and available to other members is you name, postal address, email address, phone number and collection interests.  You may request that all or any part of this information be made unavailable.


When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

Only members may leave comments or see the private pages that list items for sale or exchange.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.


Only members can upload media files.

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.


If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

From time to time, we may use return email addresses to answer the email or post we receive from you. How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users/members that register on our website,  we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
